Psoriasis is a skin condition that affects millions of people at some point in their life time. For some people, the condition seems to come and go but for others, it may become chronic and stick around without ever really leaving altogether. The unfortunate thing is, there really is no cure for psoriasis because it is a genetic disorder and is triggered by a number of different factors, some of which may be beyond your control. That doesn’t mean, however, that you are without options whenever it comes to what you can do for psoriasis. Here are 3 things that every person with psoriasis should be doing.
Get Some Sunshine – Because psoriasis is a skin disorder, it is necessary for you to make sure that you are treating your skin in the best way possible. This would include avoiding any overexposure to the sun because of its damaging rays. It might also include avoiding such things as sunscreen, mainly because it may cause an allergic reaction which will make the psoriasis worse. It is a good idea, however, for you to get a little bit of sunlight on a daily basis but you just want to make sure that you are not over doing it.
Drink Plenty of Water – The human body is made up of over 90% water and if you’re allowing it to become dehydrated, you are throwing yourself out of balance. A lack of balance may be one of the main triggers for psoriasis so you want to make sure that you are fully hydrated at all times. The easiest way for you to do this is to drink water continually throughout the day, making sure that you are taking a bit of sea salt each time you drink the water. Shoot for half of your body weight in ounces of water, and you will be fully hydrated.
Avoid Stress – You would be surprised with the amount of problems that stressing over small things can have on your life. Although it is difficult for us to avoid stress altogether, by learning how to cope with it we may be able to lessen its impact on our overall health. Stress is one of the major triggers for a psoriasis outbreak, so if you are prone to the disease you certainly would want to make sure that you are avoiding it whenever possible.
